So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
