۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What, do we then not die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
