S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 The people of Noah denied before them, and [the tribe of] 'Aad and Pharaoh, the owner of stakes, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
