The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
