Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon darkens 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat that Day. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 When legs are twisted around each other, 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
