He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 olives, dates, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
