And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 "Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
