The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
