The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
