The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a fitting requital, 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
