The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
