The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
