And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 He said: Then get out of it, for surely you are driven away: 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
