The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
