The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
