The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
