۞ IT IS HE who has created you [all] out of one living entity, and out of it brought into being its mate, so that man might incline [with love] towards woman. And so, when he has embraced her, she conceives [what at first is] a light burden, and continues to bear it. Then, when she grows heavy [with child,] they both call unto God, their Sustainer, "If Thou indeed grant us a sound [child,] we shall most certainly be among the grateful!" 189 But when He gave unto them aright, they ascribed unto Him partners in respect of that which He had given them. High is He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him). 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created? 191 The idols are things that are not able to help others or even themselves. 192 If ye call them to guidance, they will not obey: For you it is the same whether ye call them or ye hold your peace! 193 Those whom you (pagans) worship besides God, are themselves servants just like yourselves. If your claim was true, they should answer your prayers. 194 Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muhammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite. 195 Verily, my protector is God, who has bestowed this divine writ from on high: for it is He who protects the righteous, 196 And those whom ye call upon besides Him cannot succour you nor themselves they can succour. 197 And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not. 198 Use thou indulgence and enjoin seemliness and turn away from the ignorant. 199 When satan provokes you seek refuge in Allah; He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 200 Verily those who fear God think of Him when assailed by the instigations of Satan, and lo! they begin to understand, 201 And their brethren drag them on toward error, so they stop not short. 202 And whenever thou bringest not unto them, as a sign, they say: wherefore hast not thou selected it? Say thou: I only follow that which hath been revealed unto me by my Lord. This is an enlightenment from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy unto a people who believe. 203 Whenever the Quran is recited (to you), listen to it quietly so that you may receive mercy. 204 And do thou (O Muhammad) remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breath, at morn and evening. And be not thou of the neglectful. 205 Surely those who are with thy Lord wax not too proud to serve Him; they chant His praise, and to Him they bow. ۩ 206
