Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
