The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
