The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
