Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say (O Muhammad SAW to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!" 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or do they have the treasures of your Lord, or are they the authority? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or have they the unseen so that they write (it) down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
