The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
