Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
