The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
