And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
