Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
