The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
