The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 The roof raised high, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
