The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
