The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 A book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
