۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said, “Indeed you all – you and your forefathers – were in open error.” 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) but the biggest of them, that they might turn (and address themselves) to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
