Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 Thamud, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
