Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
