Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
