Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses), 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted; 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 What is to come is imminent. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
