The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 you pay attention 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
