Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is cleft asunder. 1 When the Stars are scattered; 2 When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth; 3 and when graves are laid open, 4 then everyone will know what he has sent ahead, and what he has left behind. 5 O Man! What deceived thee as to thy generous Lord 6 Who created thee, then moulded thee, then proportioned thee? 7 and set you in whatever form He pleased? 8 Yet you deny the Last Judgement. 9 Verify there are for you guardians, 10 noble, writers 11 aware of whatever you do! 12 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 13 And most surely the wicked are in burning fire, 14 In which they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense, 15 And will not be absent thence. 16 And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? 17 Again, what could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
