The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
