The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
