The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
