Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 It is He who has created death and life to put you to the test and see which of you is most virtuous in your deeds. He is Majestic and All-forgiving. 2 who created the seven heavens, one above the other. You cannot see any inconsistency in the creation of the Merciful. Return your gaze, do you see any crack! 3 Look twice (and keep on looking), your eyes will only become dull and tired. 4 We have decked the lowest heavens with torches. With these torches We have stoned the devils and We have prepared for them the torment of hell. 5 And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination. 6 When they shall be cast therein, they shall hear a loud moaning of it as it heaves, 7 As though it would burst with fury. Every time a crowd is thrown into it, its wardens will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" 8 They shall say: Yea! indeed there came to us a warner, but we rejected (him) and said: Allah has not revealed anything, you are only in a great error. 9 They will say, "If we had only listened or understood, we should not now be among the inmates of Hell," 10 So they shall confess their sin. Far away they be, the fellows of the Blaze! 11 As for those who fear their Lord unseen, for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward. 12 And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts. 13 Shall not He who hath created know? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. 14
