He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
