The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
