The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens with constellations, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 THEY DESTROY [but] themselves, they who would ready a pit 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers, 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 [and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything! 9 Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 – the Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 He does what He intends (or wills). 16 Has it come to you the story of the hosts 17 the armies of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies, 19 But God surrounds them from all sides. 20 Nay, but it is a glorious Koran, 21 upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed]. 22
