Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
