So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 and sailed away in a laden ship, wherein people cast lots. Because he lost, he was thrown into the water. 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 So you and your deities 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 What though they would say, 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 That verily they! they shall be made triumphant. 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
