The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
