He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
