The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
