The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
